Walking the human

Most dog owners walk their pets two or three times a day. Morning and evening. Sometimes at lunch.

Why?

Dogs need exercise, a chance to explore the world with all five senses, sunlight, and bathroom breaks.

But how many times a day do you non-dog owners go for a walk? I’m guessing the answer is pretty close to zero.

But you need all the same things, probably a lot more than the dogs.1

You need the movement: it clears your head and helps you process and come up with great new ideas.

It balances your glucose levels, aids digestion, and is one of the best ways to maintain a healthy body composition.2

You also need fresh air, sunlight, time for quiet reflection, absence of outside input, and the stimulation that comes from engaging the world with all your senses.

Having a dog makes this automatic. But for those of you who don’t have a pet, don’t forget to take your human for a walk today.

  1. I wouldn’t recommend going to the bathroom while walking through your neighborhood, however… ↩︎
  2. By the way, a body composition percentage is probably significantly higher than you think. Don’t let Instagram tell you otherwise. ↩︎
